Our school choir were invited to perform today at Exeter Cathedral. They gave a super performance. Well done to them and to Mrs Guthrie.

Pictures from the two clubs that run this half-term after-school on a Wednesday. Footballers were practising shooting and keeping possession. Textilers were knitting, felting and sewing. Thank you to all the volunteers who make these activities happen.
It was great to be able to use some of the new spaces that our volunteers made for us on Monday. Here are some Y5 pupils watching Toby's magic trick. We have made this space in order to give children a place to talk together. It is really good to see it in use already.
We have been delighted recently with the number of children who have started writing projects at home. We have had a poetry collection in Y5 and the start of a novel in Y5. Most recently, Georgia in Y1 completed a book of poems about animals, that she was pleased to share with us.
Children in Y3, Y4, Y5 and Y6 have spent the day learning about electricity. The day included practical workshops and a visit from Sally Jackson who helped us to learn about saving energy.
Thank you to James and Sophie's mum who came to talk about her work in dentistry and to help children in Reception, Y3 and Y6 to know more about looking after their teeth.

Perseus and Medusa Once in the kingdom of Argos lived a king called king Acrisius.King Acrisius's daughter was named Danae. King Acrisius,was a very mean king.After having visitedan oracle, who told him he would be killed
by his grandson, King Acrisius ordered his soldiers to bundle Danae and her son Perseusinto a chest and pushed them out to sea.
While the solders followed their orders King Acrisius watched with pleasure.First out spouted a little laugh from king Acrisius's mouth and then he started howling: "I won't get the blame because I didn't push them in". After days and nights of traveling Danae and her son Perseus found themselves being caught up in a old fisherman's net.Dictys,(the fisherman) pulled the sea chest up andopened all of the padlocks.At last Danaeand Perseus got out of the small chest, and then they felt so relieved.Dictys looked after them both and then gave them enough money for a small cottage and some food and water. Dictys brother,king Polydectes lived on the island of seriphos.When King Polydectes finds out about them he falls in love with Danae.
On Friday, some children started some writing on our NEOs. They were able to upload their writing to GoogleDocs. Lucy and Ella both then managed to then log on to GoogleDocs at home and to work on their writing some more. Here's the story that Lucy wrote. Ella's will be in the next post.
THE BIG DISASTER by Lucy
A thousand miles ago in the north east of Australia a girl called Rebbecca [ about 15 ] had a older sister called Sophie who was about to get marred in St. Marys church. It’s a week before the wedding and there in Jane’s bridal shop to get the most important thing of all the dress. Because Chloe is one Sophie's future husband Jon he is with her ,he isout side keeping Chloe occupied . Suddenly Sophie's dad heard Chloe crying desolately. Jon had disappeared.
As soon as Sophie, Rebbecca and their dad got home ,Sophie called her bridesmaids to come over. Lucy and Milly were her bridesmaids and they were also good problem solvers, they asked Sophie's dad some defining questions . Soon they found out where he might be.
“He has probably been kidnapped “ whispered Lucy.
“There’s a old island in the middle of the sea,”said Milly
“You could go in Jon's rowing boat “sobbed Sophie.
“But we need to be quiet,” whispered Milly.
“Milly if he is not on the island let’s look in the old dungeons,” said Lucy.
“Well you will have to row fast and hard” said Sophie with tears trickling down her little face like rain drops.
Surprisingly the rowing boat was like a 2013 speed boat with extreme super powers.
“Ten miles to go “shouted Rebbecca.
“We can’t stop now Lucy we need to find Jon,”whispered Milly .
“ Row faster dad “
”Sophie! Shh!” Finally they reached the island. They had the most determined look ever. When they had looked everywhere they got in a group as quickly as possible. Suddenly they ran to the boat and started rowing .
”The old dungeons” shouted Lucy panting .
"We will never be in time he is probably hanged up by his neck “ sobbed Sophie.
“Don't worry we will be their in time” said Sophie's dad “he will be fine I'm sure “
“START ROWING THEN “shouted Sophie getting in a tantrum .
Finally they were there .Just then they heard some one shout “HELLO help me! “ It was Jon . Sophie ran up into where the noise was coming from but she lead into a trap she flew up in to mid air ,”Those cheeky pirates" whispered Sophie. All the pirates walked down the ten blocks of steps to get to the floor the chef stood out from the men .”Ar me hearties we have visitor's “”And one fell in our trap I set up” said a child “Anyway why are you hear you are hear to get your husband back?" “Well you wont be alive for very long” said Sophie's dad and started punching, kicking and hitting until … he fell tothe floor. All the other pirates ran as fast as their mini legs could carry them. One hit a trap door that let Sophie go fling to the floor .Rebbecca ran over and released Jon. They sailed over to land and got the white wedding dress. At last, Sophie, Jon, Rebeca their dad and the whole family and the wedding dress were all together. The wedding was spectacular and they all lived happily ever after .

We had a good time welcoming parents into Y3, Y4, Y5 and Y6. We wanted to find a way to show some of the learning that has been happening so far. We hope we might be able to repeat this arrangement next term.
