Quadblogging

This term, we are looking forward to sharing blogs with three other schools. We will be visiting their blogs to read about and comment on their learning and they will be visiting ours.

Family Learning Animations

Last week, some children in Year 5 and Year 6 worked with their parents and family members to make animations about Winter. These are some of their finsihed animations. We hope you enjoy them.

Handbells

KS2 were visited today by the Sandford handbell ringers who gave a demonstration performance and explained how they work together to make music.

Y6 wood-carving at St Swithun's

As part of the Sandford Heritage Group's project to create a new bench-end at St Swithuns, Y6 visited the church for a demonstration from a wood carver - Laurence Beckford. Laurence spoke about his craft and about his training, how he had chosen this work and what he had to learn to do it. The children were congratulated on their interest and thoughtful questions. Laurence will be carving the design from last year's Buzzards. He gave us the demonstration Tudor Rose to bring back to school.

Felt Making in Y3

Year 3 have been working with Alison Truelove on a felt-making project. There are a lot of photos here but they really do illustrate the process and the learning that has been going on. We're very grateful to Alison and to all the volunteers who have been helping with our KS2 Arts week about Changes.

Barn Owl visit

Year 3 have been learning about how to plan and organise reports. Last week they wrote a report about Sandford. This week they invited in Douglas's mum and her barn-owl. They listened, took notes and will be writing reports on Friday.

Zipwire!

One of the many highlights of the Year 5 residential was the day long treasure hunt. As part of this, children (and teachers) were asked to complete a zip wire course. Here's a short film to give you a taste.
